An introduction to the core concepts behind the EAGALA (Equine Assisted Growth & Learning Assoc.) model and the Natural Lifemanship approach to Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and its benefits as a stand-alone treatment or complimentary practice. This is the first in a three-part series that provides an in depth look at the insight and wisdom horses can provide in calming thoughts, healing hearts, and mending human relationships.
Horse Sense of the Carolinas, Inc., is offering a one-day interactive workshop designed to educate participants on the basics of Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP), covering the EAGALA (Equine-Assisted Growth and Learning Association) model and Natural Lifemanship’s Trauma-Focused EAP. This workshop is designed to introduce the core concepts behind EAP and its benefits as a stand-alone treatment or as a complementary practice. As EAP is an experiential practice, the bulk of our time will be spent in contact with horses, demonstrating basic EAP activities with participants. Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy offers an opportunity to develop and practice self-regulation skills, to delve into attachment styles and connection issues, as well as a chance to learn and practice new relationship and communication skills. It is also a natural and non threatening opportunity for application with a wide variety of populations, although especially helpful for those new to or uncomfortable with traditional therapeutic settings. (No riding and no horse experience necessary.)
